Team Spartan has Strong Presence at Canada’s Largest Defence Trade Show

Team Spartan's latest edition of their FWSAR newsletter has been issued. This edition provides a sneak peak at the new advertising campaign, recaps the team's particiation at CANSEC and welcomes Esterline CMC Electronics  to the team.

Team Spartan Attends Western Innovation Forum in Vancouver

Team Spartan attended the Western Innovation Forum in Vancouver, Canada on April 16-17. The purpose of the forum was to provide an open platform for the aerospace, defence and security industries to exchange dialogue and ideas and network for innovation driven investments, partnerships, and business opportunities. The keynote speaker was the Minister of Public Works and Government Services Canada (PWGSC), Diane Finley, with additional presentations from: 

  • The Department of National Defence (DND)'s RAdm Pat Finn, Chief of Staff of Materials Group  
  • PWGSC's Tom Ring, ADM Acquisitions Branch  
  • Industry Canada's Phil Jennings, ADM, Industry Sector.

In total, there were more than 500 registrants, plus representation from three federal ministers. The four dynamic moderated discussions, 14 technology demonstrations, forums on 17 federal and provincial innovation support programs, and the 143 Business-to-Business and Business-to-Government meetings all demonstrated to the Western Innovation Forum's utility for Canadian and foreign prime contractors and suppliers seeking to expand their engagement with Canada and grow their support of Canada's new Defence Procurement Strategy.

Esterline CMC Electronics to Provide Flight Management System for C-27J Spartan

Alenia Aermacchi recently selected Esterline CMC Electronics (CMC) to provide the flight management system (FMS) for its worldwide C-27J Spartan fleet and for Team Spartan's offering for the upcoming FWSAR Program.Esterline CMC Electronics was also recently selected to supply its TacView® Portable Mission Display and SureSight® Enhanced Vision System sensor for Team Spartan in Canada. The company, headquartered in Montreal, has over 100 years of experience providing high-technology electronics products, facilities in Ottawa and Montreal, and over 1,000 employees across Canada. CMC's high-performance FMS systems are already at the heart of the Canadian Department of National Defence A310 Polaris fleet upgrade Program. 

CMC's Flight Management System selected by Alenia Aermacchi is fully certified for use in commercial aviation and military aviation aircraft. It combines both the flight management and the ARINC 739 MCDU control display unit functions in the same cockpit mounted enclosure. It incorporates not only the flight navigation features, but also provides control and display for external subsystems. It is unique among FMS equipment offered for retrofit applications as it provides tactical procedures as well as several fully certified FMS-resident functions to support future CNS/ATM and GATM functionalities, which will be progressively introduced over the coming years (2014-2020).
